The Church of St Mary and All Saints

These are the remains of The Church of St Mary and All Saints. Often wrongly referred to as Cold Christmas church (Cold Christmas itself does not have a church),  only the tower and the graveyard remain. The tower dates back to the 15th Century and is a grade II listed building, it was left standing when the rest of the church was demolished in 1853. The doorway and the window however are older, dating back to the 12th and 14th century respectively.

The graveyard contains many 18th century carved headstones, and on two sides of it can be seen the remains of the boundary wall. Unfortunately some of the headstones have fallen over and many have been worn smooth by exposure to the elements. Near the entrance to the the graveyard lies a family plot dating from around the turn of the 1800's.

Once holding the legend of ghostly goings on, now all that haunts this old church is chavs with spray cans. At the time of my visit I came across 4 youths fighting in the graveyard who quickly left when they realised I was holding a camera. Although as I was about to leave a couple of teenagers with a genuine interest in the building arrived and took some pictures of it, so they aren't all bad!
