Rickneys Quarry

Located in Bengeo this disused quarry has some interesting graffiti. The site open in 1968, although I have been unable to find an exact date as to when it closed, I have found reference to extraction finishing in 1993. There was a planning application agreed to extend the site in 2010 although little seems to have come of this, possibly due to archaeological interest in the site.

The landscape itself has an almost post apocalyptic feel to it. Some of the large machinery remains, watching silently over the site, which has 1 small building that contains the remains of the power distribution units. There is also a large a large 'tank' type structure in the middle and a smaller area that looks like it held diesel tanks long ago.
